Rhinoplasty can alter multiple nasal structures and tissues, including a droopy or bulbous tip and wide or flared nostrils. Our board-certified plastic surgeon strives for facial harmony with nose surgery, blending art and science to balance your nose with other facial features.

Rhinoplasty for Nostril Correction

Nostril correction with rhinoplasty addresses your unique concerns. The procedure may reduce prominent nostrils that affect your facial appearance or widen narrow nostrils that affect facial symmetry. Some patients may have nostrils that are barely visible because of a low-hanging nasal tip that covers the columella (skin strip between nostrils). An upturned nose can cause nostrils to appear permanently flared.

Nose surgery for nostril correction may make an incision in the columella (closed rhinoplasty) or inside the nostrils (closed rhinoplasty). The procedure may remove tissue or place sutures strategically to alter the size and shape of the nostrils. Removing tissue and adjusting the nasal tip may also improve the nostrils’ appearance.

Most patients see dramatic results after nostril correction with a natural look and well-concealed incision.

Rhinoplasty for the Nasal Tip

Rhinoplasty reconfigures the tip cartilage and places dissolvable sutures to improve the definition and the angle of the nasal tip. People with thick skin or excess, mishappen cartilage may have a bulbous nasal tip that appears rounder or heavier in relation to other facial features. The cartilage position affects the position and angle of the nasal tip. Rhinoplasty can improve a drooping, uneven, pinched, large, or wide nostril tip and other concerns with the lower third of the nose. Tip-shaping nose surgery may improve breathing issues caused by a deviated septum.

Nasal tip reshaping may utilize sutures and cartilage grafts to adjust or remove the tissues and achieve natural-looking rhinoplasty results. The surgical technique may address the infratip lobule (the area just under the tip) and columella to adjust low-hanging nostrils. People with dense or thick nasal skin may require “debulking” or selective removal of fibrous fatty tissue in the nasal tip.

This complex procedure requires a customized approach to refine a bulbous tip without compromising the underlying nasal structures. Rhinoplasty for tip-shaping or refinement requires a skilled plastic surgeon for a successful outcome. Unsatisfactory results may require revision rhinoplasty.

Rhinoplasty requires experience and detailed knowledge of the nasal structures. Dr. Avron Lipschitz is a skilled surgeon with training from prestigious institutions, including a fellowship at Johns Hopkins Hospital and Manhattan Eye & Ear Infirmary. He will tailor your rhinoplasty to your needs and consider your ethnic background, skin type, structural problems, age, and medical history to provide natural-looking, beautiful results.
