After seeing the impact COVID-19 was having on our nation we closed down our cosmetic office and pivoted our services becoming front line workers alongside our colleagues at facilities in Martin and Saint Lucie County. We returned to or reconstructive roots in plastic surgery providing reconstruction after skin cancer, wound reconstruction and trauma.
We saw patients in hospitals, assisted living facilities and even in their homes across the Treasure Coast, rounding on patients who were too frail to come to the office and those that were under strict lock down. In addition we were able to connect with many of our patient using telehealth and virtual plastic surgery. Many visits could be performed remotely.
We will continue to provide these reconstructive services and now it’s time to resume, cosmetic surgery and procedures such as botox, fillers, lasers and other medspa services.
We have modified our work flow in the office to allow for social distancing and protect our patients and and employees from Corona Virus transmission. We schedule patients with an eye on optimizing time, efficiency and safety. We have a no waiting room policy where patients are checked in either before presentation or in exam rooms, we sterilize our exam rooms between patients and screen all staff and patients for Covid 19 symptoms.
The count down has begun, although we are authorized to perform cosmetic surgery this week we are implementing safety protocols in our operating room to reduce Covid 19 transmission. We will officially resume cosmetic surgery on May 13th.
