Face & Neck Lift – Can They Be Done Together?

Facelift and Neck Lift

A facelift, medically known as a rhytidectomy, is a cosmetic procedure in which Dr. Avron Lipschitz repositions muscle, fat and skin to make you look younger. A neck lift, known as a lower rhytidectomy, is a cosmetic procedure that improves the appearance of a sagging neck and jawline. Both of these procedures are very popular, and at Athena Plastic Surgery, they can be performed separately or together.

Facelifts have been performed for more than 100 years and have changed a lot over that time. Today, they are not just about tightening the skin, but are more about reducing the signs of aging by creating a fresh, less tired appearance.

When you visit us, you’ll have an in-depth consultation with Dr. Avron who will listen to your goals and expectations and take note of your overall health, medical history, whether or not you smoke or take any medications or dietary supplements. You’ll also learn about your options and gain realistic expectations.

A neck lift is most commonly done to remove turkey-wattle neck skin, excess fat and too much skin. Along with surgery, the doctor may recommend liposuction or BOTOX® treatments for added results.

The main benefits from both a neck lift and a face lift are:

The main reasons you lose your youthful appearance are because of too much exposure to the sun, gravity, and environmental conditions such as air pollution, heredity and stress. In some cases, the upper face is still youthful looking while the jowls and neck have started sagging. However, a face or neck lift can give the best results for reducing the signs of aging.

Whether you are having one or both procedures, you’ll need to prepare the same way. Talk to our medical team about any medications you are taking and if you have any drug allergies. If you smoke, you will need to quit for four weeks before and after the surgery. This is essential for proper healing. We will give you detailed instructions about your recovery period, which will be at least one week for a neck lift.

You’ll most likely be able to return to work after 10 to 14 days after a neck lift and two to three weeks after a face lift or combination.  If you usually do heavy workouts or are physically active, you should wait for at least three weeks before resuming your normal routine.

At Athena Plastic Surgery, we’ll work with you to create a treatment plan that is customized to your needs. Contact us today to schedule your consultation.
