Athena Plastic Surgery has two Florida locations: Stuart and Palm Beach Gardens. The latter is within a half hour’s drive of Palm Beach. We are proud to also serve clients in the West Palm Beach area. Dr. Avron Lipschitz is a board-certified plastic surgeon at Athena. Whether you are interested in liposuction or a non-surgical procedure like BOTOX®, our team can help you.
Dr. Lipschitz earned his medical degree at the University of Cape Town Medical School in South Africa. After studying surgical techniques in Johannesburg, Nottingham, and London, he undertook a Fellowship in Plastic Surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital and Baltimore. He then undertook more training in aesthetic surgery at Manhattan Eye & Ear Infirmary.
What is Liposuction?
Liposuction, one of the services provided at Athena Plastic Surgery, is a procedure in which the doctor surgically removes fat. It is typically done on patients who have endeavored to lose fat through diet and exercise, but have had limited success. Liposuction is a type of body contouring procedure; it is not a method of weight loss. Lipo has the large advantage of permanently removing fat cells from the patient’s body.
Lipo can be performed on its own or in conjunction with another procedure like breast reduction or abdominoplasty.
Liposuction can be performed on many parts of the body, including:
• Face and neck
The length of both the procedure and the recovery time will depend on the amount of fat removed and if the lipo was part of another procedure like abdominoplasty.
Who is a Good Candidate for Liposuction?
Liposuction is a surgical procedure. The ideal candidate will, therefore, have to be in good health and have realistic expectations regarding the procedure, the recovery, and the results. A good candidate will be close to their ideal body weight, but they will have fat deposits on their body that they can’t get rid of, no matter how strenuously they diet or exercise.
While liposuction is an effective method for removing fat, not everyone in the Palm Beach Gardens area qualifies for the procedure. This is where non-surgical procedures can be especially useful.
