Neck Contouring

There are several excellent options for neck contouring.

Before jumping into a technique, it is important to perform proper anatomic analysis.

We must answer 3 questions:

1. What anatomic element is problematic? Is it extra skin, extra fat or loose muscle, or a combination of those features?
2. What is the goal of the patient? Absolute correction, or does the patient desire just a small improvement?
3. Is the patient willing to undergo surgery to contour the neck or is the patient only considering non-surgical options?

Once we have those answers, I can advise patients on the correct best approach.

Non-surgical options include:

Ultherapy®: Micro – ultrasound technology which applies energy to deep tissue and creates tightening of the skin, fat and muscle layers.
Botulinum Toxin: BOTOX®, XEOMIN® can soften platysma bands and muscle, improving contour.

Surgical options include:

Repairing the platysma muscle, repositioning the muscle to its original more youthful place in the neck.
Liposuction: surgically evacuating fat from under the skin.
Neck lift: surgically tightening the skin of the neck, improving the overall contour.
