Revision Breast Augmentation by Dr. Avron

Breast Revision

This week a patient who underwent revision breast augmentation at another plastic surgeon’s office presented to me with descent of the implant and a double bubble deformity. I corrected the problem with an adjustment in the patient’s implant pocket and release of the tethered tissue.

Need for revision surgery occurs for many reasons including repair of capsular contracture, asymmetry, implant rupture, breast ptosis or droop.

Breast augmentation is the most frequently performed plastic surgery operation in the USA.

Breast augmentation is a safe surgery which has a 40 year track record and is relatively easily performed by a board certified plastic surgeon. Revision breast surgery and correction of technical or anatomic problems after primary breast augmentation is where the real technical challenge occurs.

At Athena Plastic Surgery, we see dozens of these cases every month and each procedure demands a careful analysis, well thought out, individualized plan and performing a technically safe and proper revision procedure.

This is truly where the art and science of plastic surgery meet to repair and correct the problem. It is very rewarding to me seeing a difficult case resolved after careful thought and analysis.
