Which Dermal Filler Is Right for Your Cosmetic Needs?

Dermal fillers are versatile tools to reduce signs of aging. The right one for you depends on your wrinkles, volume loss, and other cosmetic concerns and their location. Some fillers work best for the cheeks, while others focus on the eye or mouth areas. Dr. Avron Lipschitz offers several types of dermal fillers and is an expert injector; he can help you determine which filler is best for your needs or whether a combination of injectables for a liquid facelift will deliver your desired results.

Hyaluronic Acid Dermal Fillers

Hyaluronic acid is a compound found naturally in the human body with high concentrations in the soft connective tissues, cartilage, joints, eyes, and skin. This molecule binds to moisture and provides that dewy glow associated with a youthful complexion. Hyaluronic acid decreases with age along with elastin and collagen fibers, causing dry, thinning skin, and lines and wrinkles. Fillers with hyaluronic acid restore volume and work well for crow’s feet, smile lines, frown lines, cheek depressions, lip augmentation, facial scarring, and other cosmetic concerns.

Dr. Avron offers Belotero® Balance, Juvéderm®, Juvéderm® Voluma, and Restylane® hyaluronic acid injectables. Belotero® Balance results last six months and improve nasolabial folds, lip lines, wrinkles around the mouth corners, and marionette lines. Juvéderm® outcomes may last up to a year and work best for lip augmentation, lip lines, smile lines, and marionette lines. Juvéderm® Voluma is the only filler FDA-approved for cheek augmentation and may last up to two years. Restylane® results may last six to 18 months, depending on the treated area, and the filler is used for lip enhancement, volume loss, and facial wrinkles and folds.

Calcium Hydroxylapatite Filler: Radiesse®

Radiesse® is a dermal filler created with calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA), a biosynthetic material formulated without animal products to reduce allergy risks. CaHA works well for moderate to severe wrinkles and volume loss by installing the building blocks for your body to rebuild a youthful facial shape with new collagen. Radiesse® results can last a year or longer.

Poly-L-lactic Acid Filler: Sculptra

Sculptra is a semi-permanent dermal filler that uses poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) to produce gradual and subtle results over time. Performed in a series of treatments, Sculptra pushes your body to increase collagen production by providing the scaffolding your skin needs to fill the treated area. PLLA improves facial contours, nasolabial folds, thin lips, laugh lines, and other skin concerns. Unlike hyaluronic acid fillers and Radiesse®, Sculptra does not offer immediate results; instead, the body fills in the area treated with new collagen in the weeks after treatment. Sculptra provides gradual improvement for outcomes that don’t appear like you’ve had work done.

Radiant Eye with Dr. Avron

Dr. Avron offers a unique eye rejuvenation treatment called Radiant Eye. Using his extensive training and experience with dermal fillers, Dr. Avron has developed a technique to improve tear troughs, sunken eyes, eye hollows, and dark circles for a refreshed appearance. Radiant Eye treatment takes about 20 minutes and provides immediate results that last up to 18 months.

Many of these dermal fillers can be combined for a liquid facelift, which is often best for men and women that have multiple facial areas they wish to improve but aren’t ready for facial plastic surgery.
