Who Should Get a Breast Lift?

Breast Lift

If you have sagging breasts, you know that they can affect your appearance. Breasts naturally sag over time — or due to factors like pregnancy and weight loss. However, you can get perkier breasts with a natural appearance again.

Breast lift surgery lifts your breasts into a higher position for a more youthful look. If you want to reverse the effects of gravity on your breasts, keep reading.

What Is a Breast Lift?

Breast lift surgery involves manipulating the skin, breast tissue, and nipples on your chest to make your breasts perkier. This is a desirable look for many women. We make incisions around your breasts and move the skin so that your breasts sit higher on your chest. After breast lift surgery, your chest will look rounder and perkier.

Many women get breast lifts to counteract the effects of pregnancy, breastfeeding, aging, or extreme weight loss. These factors contribute to drooping breasts.

Instead of wearing tight push-up bras or forcing your breasts into an upright position, opt for a breast lift. Your results will stick around so you can appreciate the rejuvenated appearance of your chest.

Getting Ready for Your Breast Lift

If you live near the Stuart, FL, area in St. Lucie County or Martin County, explore breast lift surgery at Athena Plastic Surgery. We treat patients from Port St. Lucie, Palm City, Jensen Beach, Hobe Sound, and Port Salerno. Our patients in these areas have been very happy with their breast lift experiences.

Before we schedule your breast lift surgery, you will meet with Dr. Avron Lipschitz, our board-certified plastic surgeon, for a consultation. During your consultation, you can discuss your desired aesthetic. We will make a surgical plan to best address your needs and walk you through the breast lift surgery process.

Depending on the specific concerns you have about your breasts, your treatment plan could look different. For example, some patients struggle with downward-pointing nipples, while others simply have sagging breasts. Dr. Lipschitz will determine the best approach to make your breasts perkier and fuller.

What Happens During Breast Lift Surgery?

When you are under general anesthesia, Dr. Lipschitz will start working on firming and lifting your breasts. He will make careful incisions around the perimeter of each breast to get rid of extra skin and tissue. In many cases, loose skin is the reason for sagging breasts. Dr. Lipschitz will cut away this excess skin to tighten your breasts.

Once the extra skin is gone, he will move your breast tissue and nipples into the proper position to complete the lift. This position will be different for every patient. Depending on the look you want and the size of your breasts, you could also get implants during this procedure.

Once the breast lift is completed, Dr. Lipschitz will sew up the incisions and finish the surgery. You will be on the road to recovery in no time!

The Recovery Period

Every patient’s body heals differently. In general, breast lift surgery recovery takes between two weeks and one month. You should schedule time off of work to recover and heal from the surgery. Most patients take five to ten days off from work. You may need more time off if you do strenuous physical labor.

For at least a month, you should avoid straining your body or doing intense physical activity. You can start to exercise when you are cleared by Dr. Lipschitz. This period will look different for everyone, as your body heals at its own pace.

We recommend planning to get plenty of rest and recovery time right after your surgery so you can get back to your normal activities sooner.

If you have children, plan on having help with childcare for the first few days after your surgery. You should avoid lifting children and objects during that time.

Dr. Lipschitz will schedule follow-up appointments to check on your progress after surgery. After a month or two, you should be able to return to your normal exercise routine. Your results will start to show within a few weeks after surgery.

Breast Lift with Implants

Breast implants are not always part of the breast lift procedure. However, sagging breasts can happen when there is not enough tissue to support your breasts. In these cases, you may want to pair your breast lift with breast augmentation, or implants.

Implants increase the size and roundness of your breasts. If you choose to combine these procedures, Dr. Lipschitz will insert the implants during the same surgery. Your breasts will look perkier, rounder, and more shapely than ever.
