Refresh Yourself with a HydraFacial

HydraFacial

In an attempt to clear up badly textured skin or smooth away wrinkles, one might think that a huge number of products need to be purchased. After all, the store shelves are full of skin moisturizers, creams, lotions, and vitamin-rich tonics. Dermatologists can perform peel treatments, skin resurfacing, and even light energy therapy. However, many of our clients are now discovering the magic of the HydraFacial® treatment, a multi-step procedure that address a wide number of concerns with just a single visit to our office.

The HydraFacial® is so named because water is used to exfoliate the skin and extract dead tissue and inorganic pollutants from the skin pores. A special topical serum is applied to the skin after cleansing is complete. After this treatment is complete, our clients’ facial skin is glowing, radiant, and smooth to the touch.

Cleaning and Exfoliating

The first step in the treatment involves the use of a deplaning tool that looks a bit like a toothbrush. It gently scrubs the skin surface and removes dead or damaged epidermal cells. This debris is vacuumed away in a manner similar to when the dentist sucks out the saliva gathering in the mouth. Besides getting rid of damaged epidermal cells, this also helps open up pores and makes it easier to extract oil from them.

Chemical Peel

Peel treatments take no more than an hour to perform. During the HydraFacial® treatment, a simple peel procedure is performed, but the acid used for this step remains on the face for just a few minutes. The epidermal layer is slightly burned, but the dermal layer below isn’t affected. After the acid solution is washed off, the skin is now ready for the extraction procedure.

Extraction and Nutrient Infusion

A suction tool is used to pull out hardened oil deposits and inorganic material from the skin pores. The stuff that is vacuumed away is collected in a jar so you get to see just how much oil, dirt, and other material has been lodged in the skin pores. The skin can now breathe freely.

Nutrients are now infused into the skin layers. This is the last step in the HydraFacial® treatment. By the time the client leaves for home, the facial skin is already glowing, is properly hydrated, and feels more supple and smooth. The improvement in skin tone and texture continues for many days after the treatment is performed. We give our clients some special products to use at home so that they can maintain their soft, supple facial skin.

We can also adjust the traditional treatment described above in order to target specific problems such as facial wrinkling, discolorations such as age spots or freckles, a loss of skin elasticity, brittle skin texture, or dull skin tone.
